Birthday Fun

For Cam's birthday this year we just got together with Scott's family. Turning 2 is fun (sad for mommy), but no need for a "party" if you ask me.

We met up at a park, had some cake and ice cream, and played the rest of the night in the creek. Cam LOVES to get in and throw every rock he sees.

On Tuesday we went to Seven Peaks too. Cam was so brave and had a blast.

He went down the big slides with Scott and was not scared one bit. Unlike me, who was fretting at the bottom of every slide hoping he would come out safe and sound!

I didn't get any pictures from that day really, I feel so bad. It was so hot and since we were in water it wasn't very safe for the camera.

We had to light the candles 3 times, he just coudn't resist and wait until we were done singing!

(and the cake...ya...supposed to be Toy Story. Ham sunk in the frosting and looks like a hippo. Nice.)

Cam was SOOOOO excited when he saw the wagon and bike. Can you tell? He just couldn't decide what he wanted first.

He still has to be in the wagon every waking second. (Thanks Grandma R!)

Thank you everyone for all you did to help celebrate and make Cameron's birthday so special. He LOVES every gift and we appreciate it so much!

Wow, where has the time gone?  It seems just like yesterday that your mom and I found out that we were going to have a baby.  We were so excited, and a bit scared.  Now, here we are celebrating your second birthday.

Although the time has passed as if in the blink of an eye, we can't even imagine life without you.  You have brought us new life.  You are our life.  I have a hard time organizing my thoughts, let alone my words, in a way that can fully express how proud I am to be your dad.  You have exceeded every expectation I've ever had, and I'm sure your mom would say the same.  You have truly embraced this world with all that you have. It has been exciting and inspiring to watch you every day.  Your love of life is evident in all you do and is so contagious.  I hope that never changes.  I hope your mom and I can continue to make you happy and provide you with all that you deserve.

Thank you for your warm smile.  Thank you for your bear hugs and kisses.  Thank you for calling me Daddy.  Thank you for speaking Spanish with me.  Thank you for your sense of humor and silly laugh.  Thank you for respecting and protecting your mom.  Thank you for folding your arms during prayers.  Thank you for helping me take off my shoes when I get home from work.  Thank you for reminding me to bless the food at dinner.  Thank you for sleeping through the night.  Thank you for loving the outdoors.  Thank you for jumping every chance you get.  Thank you for helping me spot the birdies.  Thank you for making mom and me forget what life was like without you.

4th of July dance

4th of July

Sorry these are so late. No good excuse, I won't even try.

Our 4th of July was fabulous. Every year we go to Centerville and have breakfast at the park, watch the parade, then play at the park afterwards. Since Cam is such late riser lately (9:30!) we had to skip breakfast and head straight to the parade. Cam loved every minute of it!

We all did this year, more than usual, because it was such a cool morning. Wishing for that right about now!

This is the only picture I could get with Cam the whole day. Busy boy.

After the parade we headed to play in the park and grab some lunch.

This was Cam's first time playing in any of the bouncy houses. I was a little worried when he went in to the obstacle course one, but he was fearless!

I love this one. You can see Scott is having a blast too, rolling all around.

                               There were a ton of creepy spiders on this slide. Good thing Mommy didn't play!

Later that night we headed out a little early to enjoy our surroundings and got ready for the fireworks.

Cam, of course, loved every minute of being outside.

                             You can see he has "perfected" catching the football. His face shows it too.

                         Ya, Cam decided to lay on some strangers blanket...

          I did not get ANY pictures of the actual fireworks. I was too busy watching Cam's expressions throughout the show. He enjoyed them so much, especially with his Uncle Robby.

Now it's time to get ready for the fireworks and festivities on the 24th!!!!

Grandma Bennett

Scott's sweet Grandma passed away Friday morning after a hard battle with pancreatic cancer.

This picture was taken a year ago, at Cameron's first birthday, her with her grandchildren.

Grandma Bennett was such a great women that helped EVERYONE she could, especially her family. She was a great example to so many.

These past few weeks I have been able to see her daily since she has been staying with Scott's family. She and I were able to get to know each other a lot better and I am extremely grateful for that.

It was an honor to help her with the little things she was unable to do. Lady did such an awesome job taking care of her mother and has taught me many things throughout this. The whole family did all they could during this time and it was a great example of how families work together in times of trial.

Lady, I am so proud of you. You are amazing and I know your mom appreciated every thing you did for her. I love you!

Grandma, We miss you. Thank you for making sweet memories with all of us this last little while. I am so happy you are with your loved ones again and are free from pain. We will see you again someday and what a great day that will be for us all!
