Scott served his mission in Houston and has been dying to go back and visit ever since he came home in 2002. This past weekend, we were finally able to go back with him. We were able to visit the areas in which he served and meet some of the amazing families he was able to meet and teach while serving there. I am so glad our little family was able to go and have Scott's mom come along as well. I am SO grateful for Scott choosing to serve a mission. I know he is the amazing person he is today because of it.
The first night we were there, Scott ran to a grocery store, local to Texas, and stocked up on his FAVORITE ice cream. This was pretty unusual because Scott isn't somebody that I would call an Ice Cream Lover. But, to my surprise, he would not stop eating it. He ended up eating a total of 2 1/2 gallons in less than 4 days!!!
We did A LOT of driving and sweating. It is so unbelievably humid there. The moment we stepped outside the airport, Lady and I looked at each other and about burst into tears! There were times when we were just standing outside, in the shade, and were dripping sweat. Fortunately, the last 2 days cooled down a bit and made it bearable.
Some of the places we were able to visit were The Kemah Boardwalk, Galveston Island, Texas City, Cypress, The Galleria, Katy and Downtown.
We were lucky enough to stay with Patricia, a wonderful member that Scott knows from his first area. She was so kind to open her home to us. She even let Scott and me sleep in her king size bed! It was amazing! Of couse, she fell in love with Cameron and sang to him in Spanish every day.
Originally, we wanted to go over Memorial Day weekend because Scott wanted to attend the baptism of a cute little girl named Katriel. Scott had grown close to her and her family through out his mission and was excited to see her. Unfortunately, ticket prices went up at the last minute, which made it too expensive for us. So, we had to settle with going a week earlier than what we wanted. But, by all means, we were still very grateful that we were able to go and still spend some time with them. We ended up having a picnic at a park near their house. We really had a good time. It was clear as to why this was one of Scott's favorite families. They were so fun.
On Sunday, we attended the Spanish ward that Scott served in while in his first area. Needless to say, I didn't understand much at all. Every once in a while, Lady and I would look at each other and nod our heads as if we fully understood what was being said. We also scoped out all the cute little kids we wanted to steal and bring home!
All in all, we had a great weekend in Houston. We ate some great Mexican food, some authentic Texas BBQ, and, my all time favorite,....PANERA BREAD! It was a great trip. The baby did fantastic, slept perfectly. We saw some nice weather, and were surrounded by good company...everything we wanted!

YEAHH! Then it wasn't so bad. I think its funny his cute little ears poke out. I tried tucking them under, it was useless.
He tries to pull it off occasionally but once he starts riding, he is too distracted to worry about it.
We all had so much fun and can't wait to be a biker family this summer!
