4 Generations

Grandpa Talbot was visiting from St. George this month, which made for a perfect opportunity to take a few Talbot generation pictures. We met at the Smolka's house (I LOVE them!) for a BBQ and took some shots after.
I am so so so glad we were able to do them. They turned out great! I got a few pictures on my camera, but Papa did the "professional" ones.

Grandpa Talbot is the sweetest man. He is so fun to talk to and has great stories. He has always welcomed us in his home when we drive through/by St. George and we enjoy visiting with him and Joyce each time.
He tells the funniest jokes and reminds us all, every time we see him, that he is where he is today because of his good looks!
So funny
We love you Grandpa Talbot!

This one makes me laugh so hard. I love how Grandpa has his head hanging. He knew the boys were teasing
him.
I told Cam that if he smiled in this one we could take a break and jump on the trampoline.
Bribe = great smile
Look at these handsome boys...
These were just for fun too. Again, Cam only smiling so he can jump.
I had to post this one, I just love how Cam is giving corner eyes. He looks so mischievous.

A floating we will go...

We were able to go to Ashton, Idaho a couple weekends ago. Scott's family goes camping every year to a place called Warm River. It is this amazingly beautiful campground that is about 45 minutes northeast of Idaho Falls.
This summer we were all a bit too busy to actually set a date to go together, but found ourselves in need of a special celebration one weekend and decided to head up there at the last minute!
This time we didn't camp, we simply booked a hotel for the night. We had so much fun and were still able to do the most important thing: Float down the river!
Don't be fooled by the name, Warm River, because it is NEVER EVER warm. It is so frigid, it should be called Polar Bear River.

Cam LOVED floating down the river.
(I will assure you I did actually float down this year, but didn't get any pictures. These are from the second float, that I stayed clear of.  I was still cold from the day before!)

This is how Papa used the tubes

We got to eat at our beloved, Frost Top.
We also went to Mesa Falls. It is about 15 minutes from Ashton.

I wish we were able to spend a few extra days there and get some camping in, but I am glad we were able to go at all. We had so much fun and I cannot wait until next year!

A penny a day...

Cam and I had a full day on Thursday. We were running a bunch of errands and trying to get back on time for a little play time before his nap.
That didn't happen. Want to know why?

All because of a little shiny penny he found at Smith's.

Cam loves coins! He loves carefully putting them in his pockets only to take them right back out and hold them like a treasure.
He is usually pretty good at not putting things in his mouth, so I let him hold on to the penny in the car as we drove home. I was bit distracted because I was talking to my MIL, so, just to be sure, I kept an extra close eye on him through the rear view mirror while we were driving.

But, as most kids his age do, Cam likes to test his boundaries. So I wasn't surprised when I saw him lick the penny. ---Gross.

Me: Cam, if you put it near your mouth again I will take it from you. Say "OK mommy."

Cam: OK Mommy. Miiiiine. No take!

A few seconds later, I peeked back and saw him wiggling his tongue around and acting a little weird. We were on a side street so I hurried and pulled over, reached back and tried to find the penny.

Me: Cam! Where is the penny??? Where is the penny?

Cam: In my boca.
(boca = mouth, in Spanish)

Me: Cam! Did you eat the penny?
(Asking him while he is still wiggling his tongue around, like you would if you had a funny taste in your mouth., you know, like you would if you had sucked on a penny!)

I wasn't all too worried because I could see that he was breathing fine and even drinking his water.
But I called the doctor anyway, just to be sure that IF he did actually eat the penny it would be OK and just come out the other end.
They, of course, said he needed an X-ray.
Nice.  Just how I wanted to spend my day.

After being told to go to Primary Children's, then to the doctor's office, then to the ER, we finally ended up just going to the pediatrician's office.
I was not very nice to the nurse. Sorry.

Scott was lucky enough to be able to leave work and meet us at the pediatrician's office.  We decided to have him go inside with Cam to get the X-ray.  Hearing Cam scream during the X-ray for his mommy just broke my heart. I wanted to be there with him so bad. But I wouldn't have been much help, I would have been crying too!

Results came back. NO PENNY!

I still have yet to find his penny anywhere in the car or his clothes, but we do know for sure that it is not in his tummy!

As a side note, while waiting in radiology, this nice man and his son kept talking to me. They were super friendly and I appreciated their kindness, but I was trying so hard to concentrate on listening to Cam crying in the room.

As we were leaving, Scott was excited to announce that I was chatting it up with Craig Bolerjack!

What does a horse say?

I love his little animal sounds he makes. I wish I would have taped this the right way. Sorry, I had to post it anyway.

Birthday Fun

For Cam's birthday this year we just got together with Scott's family. Turning 2 is fun (sad for mommy), but no need for a "party" if you ask me.
We met up at a park, had some cake and ice cream, and played the rest of the night in the creek. Cam LOVES to get in and throw every rock he sees.
On Tuesday we went to Seven Peaks too. Cam was so brave and had a blast.
He went down the big slides with Scott and was not scared one bit. Unlike me, who was fretting at the bottom of every slide hoping he would come out safe and sound!
I didn't get any pictures from that day really, I feel so bad. It was so hot and since we were in water it wasn't very safe for the camera.

Getting ready to blow out the candles
We had to light the candles 3 times, he just coudn't resist and wait until we were done singing!
(and the cake...ya...supposed to be Toy Story. Ham sunk in the frosting and looks like a hippo. Nice.)

Lady and Pop.
(Look Lady, you made it on the blog!!)

Cam was SOOOOO excited when he saw the wagon and bike. Can you tell? He just couldn't decide what he wanted first.

He still has to be in the wagon every waking second. (Thanks Grandma R!)

Uncle B!!

Thank you everyone for all you did to help celebrate and make Cameron's birthday so special. He LOVES every gift and we appreciate it so much!

Happy Birthday, Cameron!

Cameron,

Wow, where has the time gone?  It seems just like yesterday that your mom and I found out that we were going to have a baby.  We were so excited, and a bit scared.  Now, here we are celebrating your second birthday.
Although the time has passed as if in the blink of an eye, we can't even imagine life without you.  You have brought us new life.  You are our life.  I have a hard time organizing my thoughts, let alone my words, in a way that can fully express how proud I am to be your dad.  You have exceeded every expectation I've ever had, and I'm sure your mom would say the same.  You have truly embraced this world with all that you have. It has been exciting and inspiring to watch you every day.  Your love of life is evident in all you do and is so contagious.  I hope that never changes.  I hope your mom and I can continue to make you happy and provide you with all that you deserve.

Thank you for your warm smile.  Thank you for your bear hugs and kisses.  Thank you for calling me Daddy.  Thank you for speaking Spanish with me.  Thank you for your sense of humor and silly laugh.  Thank you for respecting and protecting your mom.  Thank you for folding your arms during prayers.  Thank you for helping me take off my shoes when I get home from work.  Thank you for reminding me to bless the food at dinner.  Thank you for sleeping through the night.  Thank you for loving the outdoors.  Thank you for jumping every chance you get.  Thank you for helping me spot the birdies.  Thank you for making mom and me forget what life was like without you.

Happy Birthday, my boy.

Te amo.

Love,
Dad and Mom

4th of July dance

Sorry it is sideways, just tilt your head. It was too cute to not post!
